Planned Itinerary Pre-Cruise Land Adventure

Our pre-cruise Land Adventure allows you to explore even more of your destinations before sailing with Hurtigruten.

Discover the lakes, glaciers and snow-covered mountains of Chilean Patagonia, using Puerto Natales as your base. This Land Adventure tour starts in Santiago and ends at the pier in Punta Arenas.

Day 1: Santiago/Punta Arenas/Puerto Natales

Start the tour with a morning transfer from your hotel to the airport and a flight to Punta Arenas, followed by an approximately 3-hour drive (including lunch box) through Patagonia’s rugged steppe. Experience the chance to see Magellan ostriches and with a little luck, some lonely condors tracing circles in the sky. After arriving at your hotel in Puerto Natales, the rest of the day is at your leisure followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Puerto Natales/Torres del Paine

An early start takes you on a full-day excursion to Torres del Paine National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage biosphere. See herds of sheep and native guanacos, with the rugged snow-capped Torres del Paine mountains towering in the background. We visit the amazing Torres del Paine from one end to the other by van, passing different lookout points. At Lake Grey, you can see huge icebergs along the shore and even Grey Glacier in the distance. Return to Puerto Natales in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Puerto Natales /Ultima Esperanza Fjord

A three and a half-hour cruise by motorboat from Puerto Natales to Ultima Esperanza Fjord takes you through stunning Patagonian scenery to the 1,000-year-old Balmaceda Glacier, home to cormorants and sea lions. A short walk takes you to the foot of Serrano Glacier, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and walls of ice. We then return to Puerto Natales, where the rest of the day is at your leisure. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Puerto Natales/Punta Arenas

Enjoy the landscape passing by during your three-hour transfer back to the pier in Punta Arenas in time for embarkation in the afternoon.

Please note that due to changing conditions, the order of sights may vary.
